A little note from Katelyn:
Hi I’m Katelyn and I love all things cake decorating! I’ve been obsessing over and decorating cakes for friends and family for a few years now. My journey started when on a whim I decided to make a cake for my friend’s birthday. So, with no cake decorating experience whatsoever I took to YouTube and set my sights on decorating a 2 tier cake (yep, you heard that right) … well if you want to hear more about my first cake experience and allll the mistakes I made and have a giggle at my expense, you’ll have to come along for a lesson!
By now you’re probably wondering, what’s the point in her telling us all this? Well, my point is, that if I can succeed in cake decorating, you can too! We all start somewhere and I’m here to tell you that one of the biggest tips I can give you is to invest in your skills! Whether it be taking cake classes, participating in online tutorials, or just investing in time to practice your skills and try new techniques!
I love working with buttercream and in particular love piped florals and palette knife work. I like to create cakes that are beautiful, a bit arty and unique. I’m also a sucker for a cake that has sentimental meaning or tells a story. I’m all about trying out new techniques and enjoy it when my friends give me a colour or a theme and let me run with it completely.
I’m so excited to be teaching these lessons at Choice Cakes and can’t wait to meet you all!
